About the Event
Himalayan Hub: Disaster Preparedness
Strengthening resilience, one village at a time, the Himalayan Hub initiative has successfully formed Community Preparedness Committees (CPCs) in both villages, with training now underway. As part of this effort, an orientation workshop on Disaster Risk Reduction and First Response was recently held with Village 2 (Boh). During the session, the college principal highlighted that girls rarely get access to such capacity-building trainings, unlike boys who are routinely included. Responding to this need, we proudly formed an all-women, women-centered CPC for the village. Twenty young girls — our emerging Community Resilience Leaders — participated enthusiastically in the two-day residential workshop, and from this group, several potential Rural Resilience Trainers have been identified for advanced training on hazard response and preparedness. Together, we are building stronger, safer, and more inclusive communities.
