Celebrating the Strength, Voices, and Spirit of Women
On the occasion of International Women’s Day, Jagori Rural Charitable Trust organized community celebrations across several panchayats as part of the global One Billion Rising campaign, centred around the theme “Our Bodies, Our Earth, Our Future.”
In Baghni Panchayat (Dharamshala Block), nearly 98 women gathered to celebrate solidarity and collective strength. In Pathiyar Panchayat (Nagrota Bagwan Block), 50 women from four Mahila Mandals, 13 adolescent girls, and 12 men participated, while 65 women joined the celebration in Mumta Panchayat.
The events were filled with cultural performances, including folk dances and songs by Jai Gaura Mahila Mandal and Shiv Shakti Mahila Mandal, reflecting the spirit of resilience and community among women.
A powerful moment came when Taniya, a peer leader from Jagori’s AGAJ programme, shared a poem drawing parallels between women and the earth, highlighting how both nurture and sustain life.
